Water Pump Replacement - LNQ

BO 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

For equivalent tools, refer toSpecial Tools .

1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
2. Remove the air conditioner compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement : Diesel  → V6  → 2.4L .
3. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
4. Remove the diesel particulate filter. Refer to Exhaust Particulate Filter Replacement : LNQ .
5. Remove the radiator outlet hose. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement : Diesel  → V6  → LE5 .



6. Disconnect the following from the water pump:

•	Thermostat bypass hose (1)

•	Engine coolant inlet hose (2)

•	Water pump inlet hose (3)




7. Remove the water pump bolts (1) and discard the seal (2).
8. Remove the water pump (3) from the engine compartment.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.




1. Install the water pump (3) with a NEW seal (2) and tighten the bolts (1) to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).



2. Connect the following to the water pump:

•	Thermostat bypass hose (1)

•	Engine coolant inlet hose (2)

•	Water pump inlet hose (3)

3. Install the radiator outlet hose. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement : Diesel  → V6  → LE5 .
4. Install the air conditioner compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement : Diesel  → V6  → 2.4L .
5. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
6. Install the diesel particulate filter. Refer to Exhaust Particulate Filter Replacement : LNQ .
7. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
