Exhaust Particulate Filter Replacement - LNQ

Removal Procedure

Warning: Refer to Hot Exhaust System Warning in the Preface section.

  1. Remove the air conditioning compressor hose. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement : Diesel  → L4  → V6 .
  2. Remove the EVAP outlet hose. Refer to Evaporator Outlet Hose Replacement : V6  → Diesel  → L4 .
  3. Remove the turbocharger heat shield. Refer to Turbocharger Heat Shield Replacement : LNQ .
  4. Remove the diesel particulate filter front heat shield. Refer to Exhaust Particulate Filter Heat Shield Replacement - Front : LNQ .
  5. Remove the exhaust front pipe. Refer to Front Pipe Replacement : LNQ  → LF1  → LE5 .

  6. Remove the exhaust temperature sensor (1).

  7. Remove the differential pressure sensors (2).

  8. Remove the diesel particulate filter mounting bolt (2) and nut (1).

  9. Remove the exhaust mounting bolts (1) and loosen the turbocharger-to-diesel particulate clamp nut (2).
  10. Remove the diesel particulate filter (2) and discard the gasket (1).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install a NEW gasket (1) to the turbocharger and slide the diesel particulate filter (2) into the turbocharger.

    2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  2. Tighten the clamp (2) to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
  3. Position the diesel particulate filter to the engine block and tighten the bolts (1) to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  4. Install the diesel particulate filter mounting bolt (2) and tighten to22 N·m (16 lb ft).
  5. Install the diesel particulate filter mounting nut (1) and tighten to 28 N·m (21 lb ft).

  6. Connect the exhaust differential pressure sensors (2).

  7. Connect the exhaust temperature sensor (1).
  8. Install the diesel particulate filter front heat shield. Refer to Exhaust Particulate Filter Heat Shield Replacement - Front : LNQ .
  9. Install the exhaust front pipe. Refer to Front Pipe Replacement : LNQ  → LF1  → LE5 .
  10. Install the turbocharger heat shield. Refer to Turbocharger Heat Shield Replacement : LNQ .
  11. Install the air conditioning compressor hose. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement : Diesel  → L4  → V6 .
  12. Install the EVAP outlet hose. Refer to Evaporator Outlet Hose Replacement : V6  → Diesel  → L4 .
