Front Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the front tyre and wheel assembly. Refer to Tyre and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Remove the front brake rotor. Refer to Front Brake Disc Replacement .

  5. Remove the wheel speed sensor assembly from the knuckle, if equipped. Refer to Front Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement .
  6. Note: Support the wheel drive shaft with heavy mechanic's wire or equivalent.

  7. Remove the wheel drive shaft nut. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement .

  9. Remove the wheel bearing/hub mounting bolts.
  10. Remove the wheel bearing/hub assembly from the steering knuckle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the wheel bearing/hub assembly to the knuckle.
  2. Using an approved cleaner, remove the old threadlocker from the bolts.
  3. Note: Allow the threadlocker to cure approximately 10 minutes before installation.

  4. Apply the threadlocker on 2/3 of the bolt. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers .
  5. Remove the mechanic's wire from the wheel drive shaft.
  6. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  7. Install the wheel bearing/hub bolts and tighten to 120 N·m (89 lb ft).
  8. Install the wheel drive shaft nut. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement .

  10. Install the wheel speed sensor assembly on the knuckle, if equipped. Refer to Front Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement .
  11. Install the front brake rotor. Refer to Front Brake Disc Replacement .
  12. Install the front tyre and wheel assembly. Refer to Tyre and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  13. Lower the vehicle.
